Introduction
Effective January 2, 2006, NAMCO BANDAI Holdings Inc. of
Tokyo, Japan will form a U.S. holding company, NAMCO BANDAI
Holdings (USA) Inc. (NBHU). The move is pursuant to an
announcement made back in September 2005 that NAMCO, a video game
developer and publisher, and Bandai, a manufacturer of character
merchandise such as toys, children's entertainment and trading
cards, will establish a joint holding company to compete more
effectively in the fast-changing global industry and to generate
new synergies across the various group divisions and regions.
The new U.S. holding company will be involved in a wide range of product categories, including toys, visual software and video games software, amusement facilities, arcade game machines, mobile games, apparel and network content. The various business divisions managed under NBHU include Bandai America Inc. (toys), Bandai Entertainment Inc. (visual software), NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. (video games software), NAMCO CYBERTAINMENT INC. (amusement facilities), NAMCO AMERICA INC. (arcade game machines) and NAMCO NETWORKS AMERICA INC. (mobile games).
Combining their respective strengths, NAMCO BANDAI Holdings (USA) Inc.'s goal is to create new forms of entertainment in character merchandising, technologies and entertainment locations that offer unparalleled Dreams, Fun and Inspiration to consumers.
